This was Tanner's first pinewood derby, and Connor's last pinewood derby. Both cars raced well and they won ribbons. Scott says that next year he will not help so much with the axles.
Connor likes simple, sleek cars: just a wedge cut with green and white paint. Tanner's was quite the elaborate creation: black and yellow stripes with a white racing line down the middle. Connor and Tanner designed the cut of their cars. Bro. McGraw cut the wood out at a Saturday workshop. Then, a couple Saturdays ago they painted and worked on their cars.
Quinn made a car, out of one of the old pinewood derby cars we had around the house. He is not in cub scouts, but he sent it down the track a couple of times after the racing was over. Quinn's "Bob" went fast at first, but then came to a screeching halt on the runway end.
And not to be outdone or left behind by the brothers, Scott put some wheels on a block for Allison. She painted it one morning right before pre-school: two colors of purple!

Looks like a lot of family fun. I am glad to see the Allison got to do one too...I am jealous...I have 3 brothers and I never got to make one.
